Lego story #046: A Mandalorian and his (new) ship

Heyo again, Grogu!

It's the 75363 The Mandalorian N-1 Starfighter Microfighter. What a mouthful.

Though I was interested in Mando's new microfighter (his old one was the Razor Crest, which I've sold), I never went for it because of the price increase from US$10 to $16. And I already have a Mando and Grogu. This version of Mando, though, has a new helmet marking.

So it was the perfect little birthday gift from friends.

I wasn't keen on the Razor Crest's design, but the N-1 is the most elegant microfighter I've seen, the embodiment of sleek.

Very pleased to have it. It looks good, feels good, flies good.

Like the Razor Crest, the N-1's cannons can shoot pellets (though I wouldn't, cos that's a great way to lose them).

The side engines rotate since they're on axles--that isn't supposed to be a feature, but it's nice to have something movable.

And oh, I almost forgot. This version of Mando comes with a printed human face (though it isn't new) instead of the black, faceless head in the Razor Crest set.

No hair piece. You might wonder, why give a printed face without hair? But then again, a Mandalorian's not supposed to take off his helmet.

Anyway, building this ship was a reminder that even a humble 88 pieces can provide a satisfying experience from the first piece to the final click.

I'm looking forward to making a bunch of alternate builds from this ship (many are free on Rebrickable).
