Lego story #048: Star Wars Christmas countdown... in October.

The 2024 advent calendar.

I always thought it'd be fun to open one of these Lego advent calendars. I received one for Christmas from my Star Wars buddy.

She usually gives us Star Wars paraphernalia--shirts, socks, cups--but after learning of my Lego hobby, she picked up the 75395 Advent Calendar from Costco (and got herself a Harry Potter one) in October.

I got maximum satisfaction out of it by sharing the experience with my husband and his brother who was visiting. (They're both Star Wars fans too.) Which is why we ended up finishing the calendar in October, while my brother-in-law was still around. He was super happy to pull out, by random draw, the ships he wanted to build.

We took turns assembling one ship every night after the kids were asleep. Yep, just the ships, because I removed the minifigures in advance and sold them quick to beat the competition.

There were six: Leia, Luke, Ahsoka, 501st Clone Trooper, Praetorian Guard, and Super Battle Droid.

Leia and Luke have Christmas-y sweaters. Luke's sweater is particularly nice: the front depicts his home on Tatooine with its twin suns, while the back shows a Jawa sandcrawler.

In total, the minifigs sold for about 4,300 yen after fees, or 85% of the set's price.

Now here are 18 non-minifigure builds (and btw, they don't come with the transparent round bricks I used to mount some of them):

X-Wing fighter. The four S-foils (wings) move on hinges, so you can open or close them just like in the movies.

TIE Fighter. You know, I never thought to ask what TIE stands for till I wrote this post. Looked it up: it's "twin ion engine."

AT-AT, which stands for All-Terrain Armored Transport. They're as slow as turtles but have shells as tough.

Y-Wing, one of my favorite ship designs.

Not a ship, the minikit is a collectible item from Lego Star Wars video games.

Jabba's sail barge. It's so tiny and cute!

The Millenium Falcon, front and rear views.

Republic Venator-class attack cruiser. In reality the biggest ship of this lot.

Emperor Palpatine's shuttle.

Jedi T-6 Shuttle, like the one Ahsoka flies.

Mandalorian Fang Fighter.

The Ghost. I'm very happy to have one--or a representation of one--since the actual Ghost set (75375) and even the microfighter version (75127) are way too expensive in this country.

U-Wing.

Yoda's starfighter.

This isn't a ship, though it may look like one. Darth Vader's castle.

The Razor Crest, Din Djarin's first ship.

Luke's landspeeder, with two little studs to represent Luke and Threepio.

The Crimson Firehawk, which I could not identify because I've never watched Young Jedi Adventures.

And lastly, a lot of spare pieces.

I'm not selling the non-minifigure builds, because they aren't worth much financially. For that reason, and also because they're so cute and I love SW ships, I'm keeping them as next December's festive fun.

This might be the best of the Star Wars calendars. Lots of beloved ships, many easily recognisable even in this smaller-than-microfighter form.
