No need to catch 'em all.
Last year I got into CMFs (collectible minifigures), thanks to the release of a Dungeons & Dragons CMF series.
After that, I bought several random figs for fun: three very old ones and four new ones.

Here are the old ones, which were going cheaply secondhand.
The Pilot from CMF Series 3 (8803) in 2011 is a favorite of mine. I love the concept and the pilot's fur-line jacket.
The next two I've since resold. A 2010 Explorer from Series 2 (8684), and a 2011 Crazy Scientist from Series 4 (8804).

I also picked up three fellows from the latest CMF this year, Series 27 (71048): a Jetpack Racer, a Cat Lover, and a Hamster Costume Fan. All three have dual faces.
The Jetpack Racer is just plain cool.
The word "Octan" is printed on the Jetpack Racer's legs. Its the name of a fictional company in the Lego world, originally a gas station brand.
The Cat Lover is the sort of minifigure I wouldn't normally go for -- an ordinary human who would fit best in a modern-day Lego City, which I'm not building.
But this frazzled-looking cat owner and his pure-white feline are just so charming. The colors are sweet too.
If you look on the Cat Lover's face, there are lines which look like scratches from a cat.
I thought this would be a great addition to the Tudor Corner (10350) but ended up not buying the set.

The Hamster Costume Fan holds a cucumber. Likes hanging out in my Jungle displays and would love to spend time at Winnie the Pooh's treehouse some day. Too cute to pass up!
The Wolfpack Beastmaster (number 2 in the photo below) was arguably the most popular of the
twelve from Series 27 -- or at least the hardest to find worldwide --
but he wasn't one I wanted.
Instead, I would have liked the Cupid minifigure with his love-struck (or love-striking?) eyes.
But I limited myself to only three minifigs. No need to catch 'em all, I thought. And that's my motto going forward: no more than 1 or 2 minifigs per series, if at all.

Now, here's my ultimate favorite . . . the Ice Planet Explorer from Series 25 (71046)!
The Ice Planet Explorer is super cool, but her Penguin is even cooler!
She's a throwback to a 1990s series called Ice Planet 2002. Funny how we used to think the early 2000s would be ultra-futuristic.
Is that Penguin a robot? Or is a super-intelligent organic in a custom space suit? Is he (I think of it as "he") a scout, bodyguard, or pet? I leave that to your imagination.
