Lego story #070: My Minecraft adventure (Part 2)

Delving deeper.

I started this adventure with used copies of two well-rated sets: 21240 Swamp Adventure and 21189 Skeleton Dungeon.

"Used" meant they once belonged to some kid, but thankfully I didn't find anything too gross stuck between the studs.

The Skeleton Dungeon features a Cave Explorer. The torso design is attractive, and I like the bright yellow skin.

I'm impressed by the accompanying crossbow, as I am by Lego Minecraft weapons in general. For a Lego theme that's so blocky and, well, simple-looking, the Minecraft weapons have a surprising amount of detail.

The other tool this minifigure holds is a pickax.

A Skeleton Dungeon must have at least one skeleton, surely. We get three here!

Bag 1 of the dungeon build starts with the whole base, plus a black cage.

What's in the cage? A baby skeleton!

The cage sits on a rotating pedestal, which you turn via the big round knob (see above).

Bag 2 adds most of the terrain: a waterfall, hint of grass, and brown stalagmites.

The biggest play feature is revolving walls! Stick a skeleton there and make it appear in a flash like it's just spawned.

Bag 3 adds finishing touches.

I don't know what these leaves are, but they bend on a hinge. The Cave Explorer can hop on them, I suppose.

I'm intrigued by this giant pink flower, wish I knew what it was.

In the loot chest is a music record, a bone, and a piece of bread . . . I think? Sorry, I still know next to nothing about Minecraft, so don't quote me.

Vegetation and torches.

Another play feature! This one makes stalactites drop.

I bet this set's lots of fun for kids. Highly recommend.

Miss S liked playing with the cage, stuffing a skeleton in. Personally, I liked the blend of different terrains.

And Swamp Adventure fits perfectly next to it!
